For Your Consideration: Things I'm Digging
On Fashion, Beauty, Film, Food, Books, Art and Whatever Else Might Catch My Fancy This Week
Happy Weekend to you! I cannot for the life of me believe that we're in a new month and that this month will mark another season and that the season ushers us closer to the end of another year! Whoa, Nelly!
I've told you several times by now I'm sure (sorry), that I'm into psychological thriller stuff. Whether it's podcasts, films, books, it's my thing to think about how and why people tick the way they do. I started streaming The Vow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31rSR0w0z30
about a sex cult in Albany, NY. If I could insert an emoji here it would look shocked. It's wild. People are fascinating. And vulnerable. Really interesting. Things rarely are what they seem, you know?
You may enjoy this virtual tour of artist Frida Kahlo's childhood home, now known as The Blue House https://www.museofridakahlo.org.mx/en/the-blue-house/virtual-tour/ If you need a refresher on Kahlo, her history and works, start here https://www.museofridakahlo.org.mx/en/frida-kahlo-en/She
I find her fascinating. Tortured in body and love and freed in art. While I'm at it, have you seen Salma Hayek's 2002 film Frida? On the aside, Hayek just turned 54 and all I can say about that is....GOALS.
I'm waiting on a conversation with my gynecologist about HRT (hormone replacement therapy). I'm eager to hear about the pros and cons. I'm not so eager to try it but last night I told my husband to "stop laughing out loud," and although the notion of my having done this cracks me up to no end, it may be time I seek out some support. If I've reached the point where I'm telling my husband to hold in his laughter because the sound of it annoys me, I may have reached a point too far. Can I insert a hysterically laughing emoji here?
While I wait on that convo, I'm occupying myself by scrolling the h&m website for super affordable pieces https://www2.hm.com/en_us/index.html
I have to admit, I'm not a great big store shopper. I have trouble homing in on great pieces and end up walking out because there's too much sensory stimulation or something. I have a much easier time online and the prices make me super happy! I have my eye on this one for fall https://www2.hm.com/en_us/productpage.0865520003.html
It's just my style: flowy and bohemian and comfortable. Lately my perimeno skin has been so itchy and I've become super sensitive to fabrics. I don't want anything tight or stretchy! This easy black number fits the bill. There's also a ton of patterned dresses on the site and for the first time in my life I'm attracted to animal prints (like this one pictured). How cute would that be with a leather bomber jacket and some boots for Fall? Very cute, indeed.
I'm also anxious to check out A Woman's Place, a short film streaming on Hulu about three women in the restaurant business https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/31/dining/a-womans-place-restaurant-documentary.html
Hope you all have a great weekend. XO
